La Framboise Social Studies - 12/15/09

What We Did Today
Students discussed Gorbachev and his role in the Soviet Union.  Students also received a compare/contrast sheet that they will use in preparation for a paper they will write comparing Stalin to Gorbachev.  Lastly, they started watching a video on the end of Soviet-style communism.

Kettner's Science

Today we held a discussion about the medicines found in the Rain Forest
and how important biodiversity is. Students then started working on an
open book test on Chapter 3. Those students that need more time
tomorrow will get it. There is no homework tonight.

Mercer Science

Today we studied different kinds of technology that helps us predict
weather. The reading a weather map questions (pg 106) are due
tomorrow.

Mercer Humanities

The Egypt/Mesopotamia paper is due tomorrow.
Current event due Friday on the Middle East.

Today we went over evaporation, condensation, and the formation of
different clouds.

Austin - Course 3

We went over homework and finished notes on 5.6, adding and subtracting
decimals. We did more practice in class.

Mercer Humanities

It has been brought to my attention that there is a paper due in
Language Arts on Monday. The paper for my class will be due on
Wednesday and we will work on it in class to avoid the excessive work at
home. I will reserve time in the media center so they may type their
papers in school.

Mercer Humanities

Today students were assigned a 5 paragraph paper comparing and
contrastin Ancient Mesopotamia and Ancient Egypt. The introduction and
conclusion must be at least 3 sentences and the 3 supporting paragraphs
must be at least 6 sentences. It must be written in ink or typed. It is
due on Monday.

Kettner's Science

Today we came up with a list of individuals that have made a difference
in Environmental Science. Each student will eventually select one
person to research and prepare a presentation. Research will be done
over the break.

Homework: Complete the final draft of your "Ethi-reasoning" essay - it
is due tomorrow.

Classwork: Continued working on adding and subtracting postive and
negative numbers.

decrease the chance of them invading Lake Michigan. See what you can
