Kettner's Science

We got back into our Rock groups and shared the analogies the kids came
up with. By Tuesday, each student needs to have a final draft of their
analogy in addition, each person needs to bring an artifact to
represent how their rock is made or one that represents the rock's
characteristics. Worksheet 5-6 is also due on Tuesday.

Mercer Science

Today we finished up chapter 3. Some students may need to finish the
chapter 3 review for homework. The make up test on erosion and
deposition is Wed. June 2nd.

Mercer Humanities

Today students worked on their paper. The final paper is due Tuesday
June 1st.

Today students continued to work on the paper "How does geography affect
culture?"
Students should have close to a completed rough draft for me to look at
tomorrow.
The paper is due Tuesday June 1st.

College Tech

Students are in the Investigate portion of the Design Cycle for their College Research Presentation.  They will then move on to the Plan portion that involves creating a plan or rough draft for their presentation, this will be due June 2nd.  Presentations will begin June 3rd with an organized Design Folder (information organized into Design Cycle parts; Investigate, Plan, Create, Evaluate)

Today in 5th hour we watched a short video on glaciers and then we went
over the glacier worksheet.
In 7th hour we watched a short video on the flow of the river Usk in
Wales and then we went over the power of rivers worksheet.

Today students showed me their 4 square notes. I gave them some advice
on what was good and what needed improvement. I would like to see a
rough draft on Thursday before the Memorial Day weekend.

Today the directions and 4 square sheet were handed out to the class.
The topic of the paper is "How does geography affect culture?"
The 4 square sheet is due by the end of the hour tomorrow. The rough

Today we went over the cultures of southeast Asia. Tomorrow students
have the Asian map quiz. Also tomorrow, students have their geography
assignment due. It must be typed.

Students worked on their last two Excel Spreadsheets as well as Keyboarding 10.  Next week we will begin our big project, College Research.  All students will be expected to research and present information about a college of their choice.

Today we got into groups and read about a the different categories of
rocks. We then started making a poster that will help present the new
information to the other groups in class. For homework, please find a
new piece of information that you can add to your presentation.

Mercer Science

Today we went over the weathering assignment. Homework for tonight is
to complete 1-16 on page 62 in their science book.

Mercer Humanities

Today in class we reviewed what geography is. They have a similar
assignment as the culture assignment, but this time they are writing
about their county's geography. It is due Friday.

Today students watched a 20 minute video on weathering. Students
received their rock test grades back.

Third hour took the Plate Tectonics test today and then worked on a
volcano crossword. Seventh hour reviewed for the test they have on
Monday.

Mercer Science

Today students took the rock test. All students were assigned a new
book that they can take home and use. They have a worksheet that covers
pages 40-45 that needs to be completed for tomorrow.

Mercer Humanities

Today we went over the Pakistan questions.
Students have a current event due tomorrow on their Asian nation. It
must be typed. Students also have a cultural characteristic description
assignment due on Monday. They need to choose 10 characteristics we
discussed in class and write 3 -4 examples or details about each of
them. This must also be typed.

Today we went into depth about different paths through the rock cycle.
All students have a study guide and an infromation sheet to accompany

Today we make a list of cultural characteristics. For homework tonight
all students must write a couple of paragraphs describing their culture
using the cultural characteristics from the list.
Also students have a current event due on Friday about their assigned
Asian country. This current event must be typed.

May 10, P.E. Activity Log

Reminder students should be recording their daily activities and sleep
hours on their May log. The back side of the handout is a softball
worksheet. The log is due Monday, May 24.

Mercer Science

In 5th hour we practiced and reviewed the paths of the rock cycle.
In 7th hour we analyzed and identified different kinds of rocks.
Homework for both classes: Students need to complete the worksheet with
two parts. The first part is tracking a grain of sand through the rock
cycle and the second part is forming an opinion about what they think is
the beginning of the rock cycle and why. This is due Monday.

Mercer Humanities

Today students were assignned a country from southern or southeastern
Asia. This will be their country that they will be doing extra research
on. For homework tonight students need to complete the worksheet on
India. On Friday the 14th, a current event on that country is due. The
current event must be typed.

of the Earth. All students were to turn in their vocabulary booklet

In 5th hour we observed and identified different types of rocks.
In 7th hour we went over the rock cycle and the chapter 5 assessment.

Thursday May 13th is the chapter 5 test on rocks and the rock cycle.
Students should be going over their study guide a little bit each
night.

Today we continued to go over chapter 13. Chapter 13 covers some
ancient southern Asian history, hinduism, and buddhism.
